Authentic Kung Fu
YIP MAN LINEAGE
At Portland Kung Fu, we practice the Ving Tsun ("wing chun") kung fu training system as it was passed down, unchanged by our own ideas. We teach in the Moy Tung lineage, descendent from Grandmaster Moy Yat; a disciple of the legendary Yip Man.
COMPLETE TRAINING SYSTEM
Ving Tsun kung fu is a powerful Chinese martial art who's roots trace back to the Shaolin Temple. It's characterized by the efficient use of motion and directed force. Ving Tsun is a complete system, designed to take practitioners from novice, to intermediate, and on to expert levels of skill. Through training, practitioners develop power, speed and coordination, as well as awareness, discipline and technique.
NO BELTS OR TOURNAMENTS
In kung fu training, we prioritize practical techniques that are applicable to real world self-defense scenarios. There are no ranks to progress through, only skills to develop. When pressure-testing our techniques & practicing live-combat exercises, we focus on pushing each other to our limits to further develop those skills. Our approach to martial arts training is that of a school or university. We're all here to learn & improve ourselves.
BEGINNERS WELCOME
We train with everyone, regardless of age, ability, or prior experience. While many of our students come in with years or even decades of prior martial arts experience, our program is specifically designed to help beginners develop their fighting skill. No prior experience necessary.
ADULT CLASSES
We teach martial arts to adults, in an adult-only setting. If you're a middle-aged adult looking to get back into fighting shape, or get into shape for the first time, this is the program for you!
